Content Policy

Last Updated: September 2, 2021

The Special Platform and Services enable (1) Creators to distribute and monetize their User Content freely; (2) users to search, discover, and subscribe to such meaningful User Content; and (3) Audience Members to upload certain User Content through the Community Features, as such term is defined in the Community Guidelines located here. We strive to create a vibrant marketplace for Creators to independently operate their creative business and for Audience Members to stream worldwide, where all users feel safe and free to engage with the Special community.

In order to achieve this mission and to ensure that the Services enable users to feel safe, and free to explore, engage, and create, we have defined this Content Policy that all users (i.e., Creators, Audience Members, and other users) must follow in order to use the Services. This Content Policy is subject to, and incorporated by reference in, the Special Terms of Service located here (the “Terms”). This Content Policy is deemed part of the Acceptable Use Policy in the Terms. Capitalized terms not defined in this Content Policy will have the meanings set forth in the Terms.

Within this Content Policy, it is our intention to be as straightforward and transparent as possible to ensure that all users understand what User Content IS and is NOT allowed on the Services. Should you have questions about this Content Policy, please contact Special's Support team at

Prohibited Content

Impersonation & Scams

User Content on the Services cannot be intended to cause harm to any users through attempts to scam or deceive any such user.

Special does not allow User Content that impersonates individuals or entities in a misleading or deceptive manner. This not only includes using an Account to impersonate someone, but also encompasses domains that mimic others, deep fakes, or other manipulated User Content presented to mislead, or to be falsely attributed to an individual or entity. Special permits satire and parody, while taking the context of User Content into account.

Pornography and Obscene Materials

While depictions of sex and nudity are permitted, we do not allow users to upload User Content that is pornographic. Additionally, Special prohibits any User Content that constitutes child pornography, relates to bestiality, or depicts non-consensual sex acts.

Any User Content that contains real people engaging in masturbation or sexual intercourse is not allowed on the Services.

Harassment, Bullying, or Threats of Violence

User Content that depicts real life instances of violence or physical harm to persons or property is not allowed on the Services. Special prohibits User Content that promotes, facilitates, or encourages violence or physical harm to persons, property, or animals (in each case that is unlawful).

Special does not tolerate the harassment, threatening, or bullying of users on the Services; nor do we tolerate User Content promoting, facilitating, or encouraging this behavior.

User Content cannot contain behavior or promote, facilitate, or encourage others to engage in behavior that is harassing, abusive, tortuous, threatening, or harmful to an individual, or a group of individuals on the Services.

Special prohibits User Content that promotes, facilitates, or encourages violence (or hate) toward any group based on race, religion, disability, sex, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, or any other immutable characteristic.

Invasive of Privacy

Privacy is an important right we all enjoy. Special does not allow User Content that intentionally or unintentionally reveals any personal or private information about an individual or organization, or violates or is overly invasive of an individual's privacy.

Illegal Content or Activity

Special prohibits illegal User Content or User Content promoting, facilitating, or encouraging illegal activities. Special also prohibits User Content promoting the activities of or recruiting for a recognized illegal group such as a terrorist organization or hate group.

Harmful to Minors

Special prohibits User Content that is harmful to minors in any way, including, but not limited to User Content involving or in any way encouraging the exploitation or endangerment of minors, as well as any sexual or suggestive User Content involving minors or someone who appears to be a minor. This includes child sexual abuse imagery, child pornography, and any other User Content that otherwise sexualizes minors or someone who appears to be a minor.

Infringing Content

Special prohibits any and all User Content that infringes or misappropriates the intellectual property or proprietary rights of others.

Improper Labeling

Creators are responsible for ensuring users have predictable experiences on the Services by appropriately marking any mature content as ‘Mature Content’. See our Mature Content Guidelines below for more information.

Creators are not allowed to monetize User Content (e.g., via a Membership or Premium Content for Audience Member) unless they have all necessary rights to monetize each piece of User Content uploaded to the Services. See our Monetization Policy here for more information.

Content Manipulation

Do not cheat or engage in User Content manipulation (including spamming, vote manipulation, ban evasion, or Audience Member fraud).

Mature Content Guidelines

Certain User Content may only be uploaded by Creators if marked by Creators as ‘Mature Content’ (18 years or older). Audience Member and other users are prohibited from uploading any User Content that is considered or is advised or required to be marked as ‘Mature Content’ hereunder.

Special’s “Mature Content Guidelines” have been implemented in an effort to allow for a broader range of User Content on the Services, while also maintaining trust among users navigating and discovering User Content on the Services. Audience Members and visiting users viewing ‘Mature Content’ will need to be signed into their Account and confirm that they are 18 years or older in order to access such User Content.

These Mature Content Guidelines help Special ensure that a Creator’s ‘Mature Content’ can be legally distributed without complaint or violation of third-party content policies.

Marking User Content as 'Mature Content' is done by a Creator at the project level, not on a video-by-video basis. If any of your User Content may include any of the Mature Content categories below or may otherwise not be suitable for certain age groups, if you are a Creator, you must mark your applicable project(s) as containing ‘Mature Content,” and if you are an Audience Member or other user, you must delete any such User Content from the Services and refrain from posting any other such User Content on the Services. Creators, learn how to mark your project as ‘Mature Content’ here.

What is Mature Content?

Extreme Violence or Gore

User Content that includes fictional, simulated, or animated depictions of extreme violence or gore is allowed on the Services but must be marked as ‘Mature Content.’ User Content that depicts real life instances of violence is not allowed on the Services. Please review our guidelines on Harassment, Bullying, or Threats of Violence to ensure your User Content is not otherwise prohibited by this Content Policy.

User Content that contains depictions of sex or nudity is allowed on the Services but must be marked as 'Mature Content'. However, please review our guidelines on Pornography and Obscene Materials to ensure your User Content is not otherwise prohibited by this Content Policy.

Disturbing Content

Any other User Content that contains themes, topics, or scenes that may be disturbing for minors or general audience members to view should be marked as 'Mature Content'. If you have a question or concern about whether your User Content should be marked 'Mature Content', we encourage you to mark such User Content as 'Mature Content' and/or refrain from posting it if an Audience Member or other user.

Mature Project Customization

Special offers many features that allow Creators to customize the browsing experience for Audience Members and visiting users. In order to encourage user engagement and discoverability, projects must never include 'Mature Content’ within certain customization areas. Below are the areas where ‘Mature Content’ is not allowed:

Thumbnails, Logo, and Titles

Your logo, brand name, and series, video, and post thumbnails cannot include ‘Mature Content.’ You may not use explicit titles for your brand name, series, videos, or posts.

These Mature Content Guidelines help Special ensure that your ‘Mature Content’, if a Creator, can be legally distributed without complaint or violation of third-party content policies.

Content Policy Enforcement

We take our Content Policy very seriously. If you see any User Content that you believe does not comply with this Content Policy, please report it by following the instructions at our Site here.

We reserve the right, but do not assume the obligation, to investigate any violation of this Content Policy. Upon review, if we reasonably believe that User Content is in violation of this Content Policy, the Terms, or may cause harm to Special, our users, or third parties, we may remove or take down that User Content in our sole discretion. Additionally, in the case of egregious or intentional violations or users that repeatedly violate this Content Policy, we reserve the right to temporarily, indefinitely, or permanently suspend a user’s Account, remove privileges from, or add restrictions to, a user’s Account, or ban a user from the Services (or a portion thereof).

Mature Content Moderation

Should we find that (a) an Audience Member has published any User Content that could be ‘Mature Content’ under our Mature Content Guidelines, or (b) a Creator has published any User Content matching our Mature Content Guidelines that is not marked as 'Mature Content'; we reserve the right to update any such Creator User Content and project to be classified as 'Mature Content,' delete any such Audience Member’s User Content, and/or take any other enforcement action we deem appropriate in our sole discretion.

Should we find that any of your User Content violates this Content Policy we may, but are not obligated to, notify you of the enforcement actions we take hereunder or why they were taken. However, we will use reasonable efforts to notify you of any enforcement action with the reason for any such action unless we reasonably believe that to do so: (i) would violate the law or the direction of a legal enforcement authority or would otherwise risk legal liability for Special; (ii) would compromise an investigation or the integrity or operation of the Services; or (iii) would cause harm to any user, other third party, or Special. If you believe an enforcement action with respect to your User Content was taken in error, you can contact us at

We may report any activity that we suspect violates any law or regulation to appropriate law enforcement officials, regulators, or other appropriate third parties. Our reporting may include disclosing certain user information. We also may cooperate with appropriate law enforcement agencies, regulators, or other appropriate third parties to help with the investigation and/or prosecution of illegal conduct by providing network and systems information related to alleged violations of this Content Policy and/or our Terms.
